I still haven't finished writing this paragraph and I was wondering if this version was correct?
En mi instituto tenemos que llevar una falda o unos pantalones grises. Se permite llevar unas medias negras rojas o grises. Se permite llevar unos zapatos, unas zapatillas de deporte o la botas negros. Además se permite llevar un sudadera rojo una camisa blanca con una corbata o una camiseta blanca o roja. Esta prohibido llevar un jersey gris y una falda negra pero mucha de gente llevan lo. Se permite llevar un abrigo de colegio rojo pero esta muy feo. Sin embargo mi padre gusta el abrigo del colegio porque esta practico. Además se permite llevar una chaqueta gris u esta practico pero fea. Me gusta mi uniforme escolar pero me prefiero un uniforme azul/negro. El uniforme no es elegante pero me gusta el uniforme instituto.

El uniforme no es elegante, pero me gusta el del instituto.
I changed some words to avoid repetition, like "se permite" to "se acepta" and to "nos dejan".
What do you mean by "práctica"? If you mean confortable, change the word "práctico" to "cómoda" (el abrigo cómodo, la chaqueta cómoda).
I really don't like the last two sentences. I did not change them, but I think "Me gusta mi uniforme escolar, pero prefiero uno azul/negro. El mío no es elegante, pero aún así me gusta." would be better and you would avoid the repetition of the word "uniforme".
I disagree with the person who wrote that you have a lot of mistakes. I think what you wrote was rather good.
