Is a visor in football safe?

i thought about getting a visor for my football helmet in hs i want to know can the visor shatter or crack and get in my eye or is it screwed in tight and safe ?

its plastic so they dont shatter but they can crack, they are expensive an a pain to put on but yea they stop fngers from jamin ur eye
