Instructions for the "crank Brothers" multifunction bicycle tool?
I know this may appear to be asking how to breath, and I clearly am NOT a bike mechanic. I figure that by learning how the tool works, I will also learn a lot about my bike!
Although I'm not exactly sure what tools are on the Crank Bros. multi-tool, my educated guess is that it probably has a set of allen wrenches, a chain tool, a couple of screwdrivers, and some spoke wrenches.
The allen wrenches are used all over the bike - to raise or lower the seat (if it isn't a quick release), to change or adjust the saddle (underneath the saddle is a bolt that can be loosened to move the saddle forward and backward on the rails and to adjust the pitch of the saddle), to tighten the headset, to attach the stem, etc. Every bike rider should carry one - they are indispensable. The chain tool is used to remove the chain for thorough cleaning, although using a good lube (I prefer dry lubes like Rock 'n' Roll (or is it Rock 'n' Road) or White Lightning) and keeping your chain free of dirt usually does the trick. The spoke wrenches are for wheel truing, but if you don't know how to do this, it's best to have a professional mechanic handle it.
If you really want to learn about how the bike works, many bike shops offer basic bike repair courses. My favorite shop in Minneapolis taught you how to change the tires, do adjustments, repack the hubs, true the wheels, and more! The Bicycling Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Repair and the Zinn Guide are also excellent reference books.
Brother is always thinking of new innovations in print technology to make their products quicker, and easier to use, and the Brother MFC-7225N is full of them. One interesting little feature I noticed is 4 day battery backup that works in conjunction with the 32 megabytes of built in memory. The on board RAM can not only hold up to 600 sheets worth of data, but it can even maintain the information while the printer is unplugged so, in case a power outage happens while you’re away from the office for an extended period of time, your unprinted documents will not be lost. It’s the finishing touches like these that make owning the latest printer from Brother with all the newest gadgets always worthwhile.
For a bump in price (about a hundred dollars currently), the Brother MFC-7225N adds network capability to the MFC-7220 hardware. Also, to assist with the heavier demands often placed on a printer wired to an entire office network; they beefed up the arsenal of features slightly, including a fast33.6 K bps Super G3 Fax Modem to keep things moving along at a swift 2 seconds per page, or 30 pages a minute. Also new is a doubled on board memory capacity, but still no additional memory slot.
Utilizing high quality laser technology, the Brother MFC-7225N can print at resolutions of up to 2400 X 600 dots per inch which, for a monochrome printer, is plenty of detail for any size black and white text, or even charts and graphs. Or, if you prefer speed over quality, turn down the dpi and watch the unit crank out an impressive 20 pages per minute at maximum print speed which will certainly keep a small office’s demands met. The paper tray included is of the fairly common 250 sheet capacity, but sadly, like the on board memory, again there is no option for upgrading this capacity for heavier needs. That being said, it is all too common that users never end up purchasing the often costly additional trays, leaving you with an unused void inside of your machine that bulks up the dimensions unnecessarily so, if you never plan on upgrading, you’re actually better off without the option.
Along with the almost limitless usefulness that network capability provides, Brother has also included all the connectivity outside the Ethernet port you’d expect in a professional grade printer. Both parallel and USB ports can be found on the unit, and drivers are included for both PCL – 6 and BR Script 3,making the MFC-7225N fully integratable with your Windows or Macintosh systems, includingWindows 7 and Snow Leopard.
On top of all the networking and PC interface abilities, Brother has not left out simple, well placed dedicated controls for the user who wishes to simply make a copy or send a fax without bothering with a PC, and the illuminated LCD display allows the more picky user to change settings directly, using the comprehensive keypad and buttons. The Brother MFC-7225N is the unit that does it all at reasonable speeds, incorporating network capability to boost effectiveness to its fullest.
